Carillon de Taninges
The Taninges carillon, installed in the bell tower of Saint-Jean-Baptiste church, was created in 1939. It is now the largest in the département.
Description
With 44 bells, it is one of the few in Europe to have a small concert hall where the public can watch the carillonneurs play.
Climbing the 127 steps leading up to the keyboard, visitors discover a permanent exhibition on the art of bell ringing. Every year, concerts are performed by local carillonneurs and renowned carillonneurs from all over the world.
Maximum capacity of 19 people at the top of the bell tower, but the concert can be heard from the foot of the bell tower and the church grounds.
