In the footsteps of archaeologists

Grab your trowels and paintbrushes and take on the role of an archaeologist for a day of discovery!

Description

Over the course of the day, your students will take part in 2 guided activities and a workshop of their choice.

Supervised activities (45 minutes):
- Digging at Mélan.
Your students discover the profession of archaeologist.
- The experts.
Your students discover that archaeology is also teamwork.

A workshop of your choice (45 minutes)
- What manuscripts tell us.
Your students put themselves in the shoes of a historian and discover the importance of knowing and deciphering ancient documents. As they travel back in time, they discover paleography and try their hand at reading manuscripts.
- Out of luck.
The ancient terracotta objects found during excavations tell us a lot about the past, as long as we know how to listen to them... During this workshop, your students will discover the work of the ceramologist and put into practice his techniques for reconstructing a terracotta object.
