Au Temps de Mélan

Immerse yourself in the course of history in the unique setting of the Chartreuse de Mélan.

Description

Over the course of the day, your students will take part in 3 activities supervised by a mediator, plus an independent activity. Each activity includes time for experimentation.

Supervised activities (45 minutes):
- The workings of a seigniory :
The founding and operation of the Mélan monastery and its estate. Experimentation: table and food in the Middle Ages.
- Nobility:
Discover the role of coats of arms and heraldry.
Experiment: creating a coat of arms.
- Church and clergy:
The life of nuns in monasteries and the life of monks, using the example of copyists. Experimentation: paleography and the reading of ancient manuscripts.

Independent activity (30 minutes)
- Giant Monopoly:
In the cloister, students play a game of Monopoly® specially designed for the Chartreuse de Mélan.
