Plateau de Sommand
From the big car park in Sommand, you’ll have a superb view of the Sommand plateau on this short loop.
Description
You’ll be walking close to the bottom of the main slopes and the departure of the Alpine skiing and cross-country skiing slopes. Farquet Loop is a great itinerary to get started on snowshoes.
A breath-taking view of Haut Fleury, Haute Pointe, Pertuiset, Rovagne, Chavasse, etc. All the surrounding peaks are watching over Sommand!

Guidebook with maps/step-by-step : Opposite the Sommand residences, descend the steep slope to the start of the pistes. Turn left onto the marked footpath.
1/ Pass close to Lac de Sommand, which remains frozen for much of the winter. Turn left to cross the road after the Vacca Park hotel, then join the "Boucle de Farquet".
2/ At the Chalets de la Ramaz, descend to the right towards the center of the resort, where the more athletic can continue to the Col de la Ramaz and back (dotted line on map).
3/ The route continues gently on the Sapins loop
Sapins loop back to the starting point.
