It is located on the main road to Taninges, and was founded in 1655 by the dame de Ravorée, Jeanne Marie Mareschal de Duingt de la Val d'Isère, widow of Messire François de la Fléchère, seigneur de Sénoche.

Description

This chapel is dedicated to Notre Dame de la Compassion or Notre Dame des 7 douleurs.
It is also called "Chapelle à la Dame" or "Chapelle des grands champs".

It was in the 14th century that the seven sorrows of the Virgin were first mentioned: Simeon's prophecy of the Infant Jesus, the flight into Egypt, Jesus' disappearance from the temple in Jerusalem for three days, Christ's arrest and Passion, the crucifixion and death of Christ, the removal from the cross and the burial.

The feast of Our Lady of Sorrows was first celebrated in Bruges in 1494, and was extended to the entire Latin Church on April 22, 1727.
The cult of Mary under the title of Mater Dolorosa expanded considerably.
The Catholic Church celebrates her on September 15.

The chapel suffered the ravages of the Revolution and fell into ruin. It was rebuilt in 1865-66 by a priest from Mieussy.

In 1938, on Ascension Day, the repainted and repaired statue of the Virgin of 7 Sorrows was carried from the parish church on a flower-bedecked stretcher, accompanied by a huge procession of brotherhoods, altar boys and a large crowd. Replaced on the marble altar, it was solemnly blessed. It is of neo-Gothic inspiration.

The painting on the right, in poor condition, depicts the Descent from the Cross, signed by Henri de Monttagne in 1833. On the left is the Virgin of the Rosary.
